Fellowship
Augusta Health Foundation’s Women’s Giving Circle (WGC) brings together women who are passionate about making a difference in local healthcare. Since its founding in 2017 by a group of 20 trailblazing women, the WGC has grown into a vibrant community united by a shared commitment to improving health and wellness in their community. Members meet regularly to connect, share ideas, and work together on meaningful initiatives. This warm and collaborative spirit not only strengthens friendships but also fuels impactful efforts that make a lasting difference in the lives of women right here in the Shenandoah Valley.
Education
Education is a cornerstone of the WGC’s mission. Members meet three times a year to learn about important women’s health issues from local health experts. Topics have included robotic surgery, cardiovascular disease in women, metabolic diseases, and more. This educational focus ensures that members are well-informed about current health issues, helping them to make impactful decisions about their philanthropic efforts. Other recent talks have been focused on:
- The Heart of Healthcare: Nursing at Augusta Health
- Our Community & Expanding Access - Population Health
- Feeling 22 . . . or Trying To - Physical Therapy
- Cancer in Women – Hematology/Oncology
- Preventing Falls and Bone Injuries –Orthopedics
- Forensics Program for Sexual Assault Victims - Emergency Department
Impact
By working together, WGC members have made meaningful advancements in local healthcare through their thoughtful and targeted support. Their very first project helped create a new Forensics Room in the Emergency Department, providing a safe and supportive space for victims of sexual assault and strangulation. Since then, the group’s contributions have helped expand the Emergency Department, bring cutting-edge 3-D mammography technology to the area, and supported the Breast Center at the Outpatient Pavilion. These efforts have truly elevated the quality of care in our community, showcasing the WGC’s heartfelt commitment to addressing critical healthcare needs.
