Good News for Donors: New Charitable Giving Rules

New tax laws make it easier for every household to get tax benefits for donations.

What You Need to Know

  • Beginning in 2026, when you make a donation to support the health of our communities, you can receive tax benefits — without itemizing — up to $1,000 for individuals or $2,000 for couples. To qualify, make your check payable to:

Augusta Health
c/o Augusta Health Foundation
PO Box 909Fishersville VA 22939

  • If you itemize, you may still deduct your gifts. Consult your tax professional for information about new limits on your deductions.
  • If you’re over 70½, you can contribute from an IRA (called a Qualified Charitable Distribution) to Augusta Health and reduce your taxable income. Consult your tax professional for specific rules.

What this Means for You

New tax rules allow you to receive a tax benefit for your charitable giving, making it possible to support the causes you care about while also reducing your taxable income.
Please consult a financial advisor for information specific to your situation.
